Apple had pushed the new iPhone OS 3.2 Software Development Kit for iPad developers recently. Apparently, this is the second beta of iPhone OS 3.2 SDK for iPad and fixes the bugs found in the first beta. The Apple iPad SDK site also offers new iPad Programming Guide for the iPad developers for easier and quicker app development. Note that only iPhone Developer Program members can login and then download
the new iPhone OS 3.2 SDK beta.
iPad developers using the first beta of iPhone OS 3.2 SDK with iPad simulator reported testing bugs while developing apps. Also, the developers are under a strict non-disclosure agreement assuring they will not show screen grabs of any iPad Apps running in the simulator. The new iPad Programming Guide also offers help with new iPad Human Interface Guidelines for designing better interaction with the app.
Changelog of iPhone OS 3.2 SDK beta 2 indicates following bug fixes:
-FIXED: Changing an iPhone Executable’s working directory from “Build Products directory” may cause the application not to install properly with the error message “The Info.plist for application at (null) specifies a CFBundleExecutable of (null), which does not exist.”
-FIXED: In iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 1, Xcode’s Transition feature did not work correctly if the SDK was installed in a location other than /Developer. In beta 2, the feature will work properly with the SDK installed in any location on your system.
-FIXED: In iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 1, some users saw the message “A signed resource has been added, modified or deleted ” when rebuilding their projects. This has been fixed for beta 2.
Along with this update, Apple also brings Universal Application Binary format for iPhone OS Apps. With this new format, a single app would be capable of working with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Hopefully, developers would face less trouble in making marvelous apps for the iPad and make them available alongside the device itself next month.
